Samsung confirms One UI 9 Beta 5 is coming next week for Galaxy S26

Three weeks is a long time to wait for a software update, especially when you’re already running a beta. Samsung Galaxy S26 owners have been stuck on Beta 4 since mid-July, and the silence from Samsung has been frustrating. But the wait is almost over. According to SamMobile, a Beta Operations Manager confirmed on the Samsung Community forum that One UI 9 Beta 5 will drop for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra next week.

The rep also apologized for the delay, which is at least a sign that Samsung is aware people are paying attention. More importantly, they promised that Beta 5 will be more stable than previous builds, and that the development team is focused on getting the quality right before pushing it out. That’s actually reassuring. A rushed beta that breaks more than it fixes helps no one.

Here’s why this matters beyond just one update. The stable version of One UI 9.0 already shipped with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. That means Samsung is now in the final stretch of getting the stable build ready for existing devices, and the Galaxy S26 series is first in line. Once Beta 5 lands and Samsung collects feedback, a public stable release for the S26 lineup should follow fairly quickly. Every beta cycle that closes brings that launch date closer.

And the One UI 9 rollout doesn’t stop with the S26. Samsung is reportedly preparing to expand the beta program to a wider set of devices, which is a strong sign that the software is maturing. Expected to join the program soon are:

  • Galaxy S25 series, including the Galaxy S25 FE
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7

That’s a significant chunk of Samsung’s recent flagship lineup. If you’re on any of those devices and want to try One UI 9 before the general release, it looks like your window is opening up soon.

For the broader Android software picture, Samsung’s beta cadence here is pretty typical. Multiple beta builds over several weeks, each one ironing out bugs and tightening performance, before the stable version goes wide. It’s not glamorous, but it’s the responsible way to ship a major OS update to millions of devices. The fact that they’re pausing to polish Beta 5 rather than just shipping it fast is actually the right call, even if the wait is annoying.

So if you’re on the Galaxy S26 and you’ve been refreshing your update settings for the past three weeks, you can finally stop. Next week is the target. Whether Samsung hits that window exactly remains to be seen, but at least now there’s a real timeline on the table.
