The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is already selling like crazy, and apparently Samsung thinks there’s room to push it even further upmarket. A new report out of South Korea suggests the company is planning a luxury brand edition of the Z Fold 8, and honestly, given Samsung’s history with this kind of thing, it’s not that surprising.
According to SamMobile, Samsung has been exploring a special branded edition of the Z Fold 8 to ride the wave of its success. The report doesn’t name the brand involved, but Samsung has done this dance before. It worked with Thom Browne on multiple Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold devices, and even put out a Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela edition back in 2023. So the playbook here is pretty well established.
The timing makes sense. The Z Fold 8 has been a genuine hit for Samsung, more so than some of its recent foldables. Launching a limited luxury edition is a smart way to squeeze more buzz and margin out of a device that’s already performing well. It’s a move straight out of the premium product handbook, and Samsung has enough experience with it to pull it off properly.
If Thom Browne does come back into the picture, fans of those earlier collabs know what to expect: the brand’s signature Americana stripe accents, custom packaging, and matching accessories. Those editions were genuinely stylish, not just a logo slapped on a phone. Still, nothing is confirmed yet, and the report is light on specifics about which brand Samsung might partner with this time around.
What we do know, based on the report, is that Samsung is likely targeting a second-half 2026 launch window for this device. And like the branded editions before it, expect limited availability across select markets. This won’t be something you just walk into any carrier store and pick up. That scarcity is part of the appeal, of course, and part of what keeps these collabs feeling like actual collector items rather than cheap marketing stunts.
There’s a bigger trend worth paying attention to here. Luxury tech collabs have become a serious category. From OnePlus working with McLaren to Motorola’s various fashion tie-ins, brands have figured out that pairing a smartphone with an aspirational name moves units and earns press coverage money can’t easily buy elsewhere. Samsung has been one of the smarter players in this space, choosing partners that genuinely fit the aesthetic of its foldable lineup rather than just chasing a famous name.
So far, Samsung has stayed quiet on this one. No official announcement, no teaser, nothing. But if the Korean reports are right, we won’t be waiting too long to find out. Keep an eye on the second half of this year.
