We would never have though that anyone could not want an iPhone, but there are people that are speculating otherwise. Apparently, there is some doubt as to the iPhone’s demand outside the US. However, M:Metrics senior analyst, Paul Goode, says that there is a significant demand for Apple’s iPhone overseas. Apparently, there are 7 million Brits interested in the iPhone, with 56% of the UK population having heard of the device (compared to 64% of North Americans having heard of the upcoming musicphone).
Apple introduced the iPhone to keep all those new musicphones from grabbing too much of the iPod’s turf. Even though the iPhone is not as widely publicized in Europe, there are far more smartphone users – with 40% of MP3 player and musicphone owners in the UK using their phone as their primary music player. According to Goode, “Apple has no choice. It needs the Iphone in Europe to increase market share, otherwise it will end up losing out to musicphones.”
So, the numbers basically are telling us what we already knew – everyone wants an iPhone!
