Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 could hit AT&T in late July

It looks like the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 may be hitting AT&T in late July or early August, according to a post from Engadget.

If you recall, the X10 looked like a killer device when it was first announced because the Android-powered handset features a large 4-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 1 GHz processor and a cool 8-megapixel camera. It’s pretty stylish as well because Sony Ericsson knows how to make solid hardware. The world has kind of moved on though with devices like the EVO 4G and Droid Incredible vying to be king of the Android hill and the confusion over whether the X10 will get multitouch doesn’t help.

We have an unlocked version of the bad boy kicking around IntoMobile HQ (we’ll have a review up soon) and Editor-In-Chief Will Park said its awesome in many ways but also blows in others. The custom Timescape UI kind of holds it back, as does the fact that it’s only rocking a previous version of Android with a murky upgrade schedule.

Also, the release time frame will also put it directly in the path of the next iPhone, which appears to be rocking a front-facing camera, beefed up display, new styling, iPhone OS 4.0, and other goodies. Regardless, check out our hands-on video from CES 2010 in order to get a better understanding of what the X10 will offer.
