Well, if you thought all Dell had on its smartphone plate was the weak Aero, you’re mistaken, my friend. We’ve already gotten a peak at the Lightning, Thunder and Flash, but the Android-powered Smoke may be the best thing to look forward to.
The handset has been described as a Palm Pixi but awesome. It’s supposed to only be 1.2 centimeters thick (12 millimeters for our non-United States friends) and it will be a portrait slider with a full QWERTY keyboard. The 2.8-inch QVGA display will be touch capable, there will be Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, 14.4 Mbps HSPA, a 5-megapixel camera, WiFi, microSD slot for up to 32 GB and a dual-microphone for noise cancellation. Inside, it should have Qualcomm’s next-generation MSM7230 processor at 800 MHz. The software will be Froyo and we should see Dell’s Stage UI layered on top.
It’s not supposed to hit until the second quarter of 2011 (probably on AT&T) but it should come in at a very affordable price. Still unclear how good that keyboard will be but I can’t wait.
