Although O2’s launch of the HTC Desire might be postponed to mid-May, U.S. Cellular won’t be too far behind, saying that we can expect the Android 2.1 beast in July. U.S. Cellular had previously announced the phone, but apparently folks were getting it mixed up with the Droid Eris. Here’s what U.S. Cellular had to say:

How about a peek at some specs for the gorgeous HTC Desire including a 3.7″ AMOLED touchscreen display, 5 MP camera with LED flash, Wi-Fi, GPS, Android Market and an 8 GB microSD card. It’s looking to be a beauty, second only to the HTC Incredible. No price point yet, but considering stuff like the Evo will be going for $200 on contract, it wouldn’t be too much to expect this one at $150 or less.
