World of Warcraft Running On the iPad… Kind Of…

To the millions of subscribers of World of Warcraft, one thing I’m sure they’d all love to be able to do is to play the game while they’re out and about in the real world in order to get their regular fix of World of Warcrack. Sure, they CAN lug around a laptop with them everywhere they go with a 3G Hotspot like Verizon’s MiFi 2200 in their pocket, but what if you could play World of Warcraft on the iPad?

The image above is a screenshot taken from David Perry’s website where he’s showing off World of Warcraft in action on the iPad using his not-yet-released Gaikai streaming software.  Gaikai combines Flash, Java, and Silverlight in order to create a streaming gaming environment to the iPad.

So, in actuality, the game isn’t running natively on the iPad, but given how powerful the iPad is, as well as how impressive games look on it, I don’t see why Blizzard can’t deliver an iPad version of their insanely successful MMO.  Especially when the user interface can easily be manipulated by on-screen commands, which might work better than key mapping.  Consider this wishful thinking for now until either Gaikai is actually released (which is unlikely due to Steve not to keen with Flash) or until Blizzard decides to offer World of Warcraft on the iPad themselves.
