Nokia N93 vs N93i vs Canon Powershot A510: The Teddy Bear

I got this thing while I was a student at SUNY Stony Brook. Yes I’m a 20 year old male with a teddy bear, got a problem?

Nokia N93 and N93i were set to "close up" mode and color was left on automatic.

Canon was set to "macro mode" and everything else was automatic.

Canon Powershot A510:

Nokia N93i:

Nokia N93:

From what I can tell the N93 has sharper pictures while the N93i has less noise and less detail so it seems.

Canon is of course kicking some major ass.

UPDATE: As I was writing this blog post the thought came to me that I should try and see what sort of quality I can expect if I just left both the N93 and N93i in "automatic" mode for everything. Let’s see what happens:

N93i:

N93:

My hunch seems to be right: close up mode should not be used … ever!

it’s not very easy to compare compact camera with camera from phone. it’s not just matter of sensor, compact cameras have much better lenses. That is hard to put into small phone…

Yeah, the close up mode is a complete joke, a waste of time in fact, as the auto-focus usually takes care of distances right down to about 8cm.
