Bad news for existing HP Windows Mobile 5 based device owners. The company has no plans to provide Windows Mobile 6 upgrades for their current line of Windows Mobile 5.0 devices (iPAQ hw6900, iPAQ rw6800, iPAQ rx4000 and rx5000 series). The reason – “the potential for long delays, as well as possible carry-over costs.” Future HP device will normally come with Microsoft’s latest Windows Mobile version. Sounds kind a lame. WTH, Hp should be providing updates and upgrades for their products. i bought the HP rw6828 in hope of better upgrades and HP IT products are said to be stable and the prestigious brand but i guess this is my first and last HP product. so much for being ‘stable’ and ‘branded’.

  • Felix

I have logged the report with HP and they replied that their R&D team is working on WM6 upgrades for rw6828 but no idea when it will be released.

So, all rw6828 user, cross your fingers.

  • Scott

I also logged a report with HP about the possibility of a WM6 update for the rw6828, and got the response:

“According to the research done by the back end team, they have found that Windows Mobile 6.0 does not support touch sense screen feature. It only works on the unit which does not have touch sense feature. Hence RW6828 has touch sense feature and Windows mobile 6.0 will not support that feature and you will not be able to upgrade from windows mobile 5.0 to windows mobile 6.0.”

Doesn’t look like we’re getting a WM6 update any time soon.

Bull shit from HP. WM6 for non-touch screen PDA phone. Give me a break. HP really think those people buying their rw6828 are really nuts.

Everyone knows WM6 Professional is meant for touch screen enabled phone. Are they trying to act stupid by giving those response out so that they don’t have to do anything on the rw6828.

    HP SUCKS!

  • Scott

Yes, i must agree.. HP think we’re stupid. It is beyond me why computer hardware manufacturers like HP think they can sell us these products, and then turn around and say ‘it is not possible to update your $700 PDA phone. However, if you fork out another $700, you can have this new phone that does’

It makes me sick to my stomach. Well guess what HP? I’m NOT forking out any more money for your support-less products. This will be the first and last HP product i ever buy.

  • Mushroom

 Go with HTC can’t go wrong

  • Reha Biçer

I agree with all of you. This is bull shit! Every PDA can easly upgrade to WM6..

  • CM

i hope they also make a WM6 update for rx1950 i cant see why they dont make it for all there WM5 devices

  • Rich

I empathize with all of you sorry-assed HP product owners — and I’m one of them!

HP Slander is DEFINITELY in order: I have owned MANY HP products (NOT my PDA, thank god!) and EVERY single one of them has failed.

TELL EVERY BUSINESS AND PERSON YOU KNOW: DO NOT PURCHASE COMPUTER PRODUCTS WITH THE HEWLETT-PACKARD LABEL. You are throwing your money away if you do.

  • Bas

  All other manufacturers update to wm6, but HP not I have a HW 6915 and paid a lot of euros for it but now i own a pda/foon from the prehistory Thanks but no thanks HP this is my last hp product ever i own

    3 hp pda 6915
    2 hp laptops
    1 hp printerserver

I never gona by a HP product again ITS SUCKS

A angry costumer

I have an hp2795b that I spent $550 on. It is the second HP I’ve owned. If HP refused to offer mobile 6.0 upgrades like every other company, I curse them and swear never to buy another product from them again! HP doesn’t appreciate their consumers and laughs in their face. Let all who read these words wage a strike against IPAQS and HP! Let us all write as many blogs against them as possible and put them out of business!!!!

  • Gary L.

I have an HP IPAD 6315. It’s a piece of junk. I heard of WM6 and hopefully I can get it to upgrade. But now I saw all comments about HP for not having any plans on upgrading existing HP mobile PDAs. It’s really sucks.
We are throwing our money away. No more HP !!!! Definitely I will buy other products.

HP, you’re loosing your loyal customer here.

  • Hamish

I’m just suprised that a “standard” WM6 upgrade doesn’t exist for all (or at least a wide range of) devices. I have an RX1950 which serves me well, but the lack of support is disheartening. Bad form HP!

Much like many other customers i’m sure, HTC here i come…

  • spgi

yeah..same to me..i will never buy HP PDA again.. never never never!

  • PM

this is the last HP product I will ever purchase.

  • Gokhan

I will never buy HP again this is the last HP product I will never purchase. All other manufacturers update to wm6, you know HP …. Hp Are you remember me. I’m a customer

  • James

I wans’t very happy with my hw6915, but now I’m sure this is my last HP PDA. They’d better stay away from the market if they are not ready to provide support to the customer base. SHAME HP

  • William Lawson

Well add me to the list as someone who will never buy an HP product again. They are so out of touch with the needs and requirements of their users that purchasing anything made by them is equivalent to shoveling your money into a furnace. I think their problem is that they don’t employ any “thinkers” – am I right, or am I right?

  • NELSON G

I paid alot of money for my hp2795. for hp not to provide an upgrade to windows mobile 6.1 is carzy. i will no longer support hp nor buy there products last starw hp.

  • CM

  • FINIX

  • wd

lol.. HP why u gave such a bad reputation to all of you customer ??
are you doing business for a short period only ??
if it was like that you are damn stupid !!!!

  • todd

    This is typical for HP.
Support is virtually non-existent for end users. Most other serious manufacturers stand behind their products. Not HP.
One year ago bought a PC and I had to return it due to no OS/drivers support.
Learned my lessson – will never buy HP products again.

  • God poeple are not technical

I own and upgraded an ipaq hx2000 to wm.6.1 and I run almost all of the lastest software. IT Works well…

Search the web for you device and ROM keyword…it’s there and free. learn to upgrade it (HP hidden feature to perform this task). instruction and ROM can be found on WEB for FREE.

And For christ sake don’t buy from ebay.. because ebay seller are selling free work of underground community. CM … you know that sucka…

  • HP IS BULL
