Cry if you’re not in Japan – DoCoMo introduces new FOMA 704i Series phones

Those lucky Japanese… It’s like they don’t have enough good lookin’, feature rich phones already. Now, just like KDDI and Softbank, NTT DoCoMo announced a bunch of new phones — eight to be more precise. What makes me happy is seeing half of them (D703i, F704i, SH704i, SO704i) running MOAP on top Symbian OS. :)

DoCoMo introduces new FOMA 704i Series phones

Brief information about each of the phones along with some photos after the break…

  • D704i – slider device manufactured by Mitsubishi has dimensions of 99x49x18.6 mm and weighs 111 grams. Sports 2.4″ QVGA 260k display, microSD expansion slot, 1.3 MP camera. Available in red, white, brown, and pink.
  • F704i – Fujitsu made clamshell measures at 100x48x17.9 mm and weighs 109 grams. Sports two screens (external – 17×22 mm, and internal 2.2″ QVGA 260k color), two cameras (1.3 MP for photo taking and a VGA for video calls), and microSD expansion slot. Available in magenta, gold, white, and black.
  • L704i – manufactured by LG, this slider has dimensions of 99x48x17.7 mm and a weight of 110 grams. There’s a 2.2″ QVGA screen, 2 MP camera, VGA camera for video calls, microSD expansion. The Japanese version of the popular LG Chocolate is available in black, white and wine chocolate colors.
  • P704i – a Panasonic-made slider that weighs 111 grams and has dimensions of 105x51x13.5 mm. Features 2.4″ QVGA screen, 2 MP camera and an additional storage capacity upgrade with microSD cards. Colors: ice white, urban black and rose gold.
  • SH704i – Sharp clamshell that measures at 106x49x18.1 mm and weighs 128 grams. Sports a large 2.6″ WQVGA (240×400) Mobile ASV 260k screen, 1.3 MP camera, microSD slot. Available in gold, white, black, blue and pink.
  • SO704i – beautiful Japan-only Sony Ericsson clamshell that boasts two screens (external 128×36 1.1″ OLED display, and internal/main 240×432 2.7″ WQVGA), two cameras (2 MP for photo taking and VGA for video calls), microSD card slot. Dimensions: 105x47x18.7 mm. Supports style up covers that are available in an array of color schemes: butterfly, shine, star, angel heart, twinkle fairy, royal mirror, blue sea, golden moon, fantasy sky.
  • N704i(mew) – Nec-manufactured clamshell that has dimensions of 103x49x11.4 mm, and weight of 90 grams. Sports two screens (external 7×7, and internal 240×345 2.3″ QVGA+), 1.3 MP camera, VGA camera for video calls, microSD expansion slot. Available in premium blue, premium black, and premium white.
  • P704i(mew) – Panasonic slider that packs 2.2″ QVGA main screen, 0.4″ 56×12 STN screen, 1.3 MP camera for photo taking, VGA camera for video calls, and a microSD expansion slot. This device has measures of 103x49x11.4 mm, and weight of 98 grams. Available colors include cocktail gold, bisque white, and luxe black.

There you have it. A nice collection have been revealed by the leading carrier in the Land of the rising Sun. Now, let’s pray some DoCoMo’s manufacturers learn a thing from the Japanese market, and transfer that knowledge to the Western hemisphere.
