We all have a friend who lives in the dead zone. A place where you have to stand with your head out the window to get one bar and a place you know you will never hear a 50 Cent ringtone go off. Sprint wants to change all that, they are launching a new service called Airave that will cost $50 up front for a device that hooks up to your broadband and then $15 per month per person or $30 per family. This box will handle up to 3 calls at once and cover an area of about 5,000 square feet. Sprint is looking into developing such a solution for businesses by creating a box that can handle 12 of more calls. T-Mobile has UMA which is different and inferior in my mind seeing that it works with only wifi equipped devices, Airave works with you already existing Sprint handset. Props to Sprint.
