The most annoying thing I found about the iPhone is the lack of proper Bluetooth support

As a Nokia handset and N800 Internet Tablet owner I was one of those who were looking forward to see iPhone replacing the two devices. However, that wasn’t the case as iPhone lacks the proper Bluetooth support…

iPhone with Bluetooth keyboard

Yeah, the iPhone misses the 3G and a GPS, but we KNEW it won’t be there. However, we did know Apple will include Bluetooth connectivity support with the iPhone. But — there’s always a “but” — we did NOT know the Bluetooth support will be so much crippled. Yeah, I DO want the stereo Bluetooth (A2DP profile) and an option to connect my full QWERTY keyboard to the device with such a large screen. In addition, I may want to connect external stereo Bluetooth speakers to the iPhone. And while stereo Bluetooth IS possible, it requires that you plug an additional accessory into the device — iPhone should have all this on-board!

The good thing is that Apple can actually fix this with its future firmware upgrades. I just hope they will do that sooner rather than later. C’mon Steve, you’ve nothing to lose with this move. Ok, maybe potential Apple stereo headset sales (not that we know they’re coming), but what do you expect us to do in the meantime. “Wire ourselves” after we got used to stereo Bluetooth? Will “please” help? ;)

    Shame on Apple!

    Shame on Apple indeed.

I’m holding onto the hope that Apple will enable more Bluetooth support with a future update. :???:

…you know what manufacturer DOESN’T cripple Bluetooth… and allows for wireless connectivity to Bluetooth headphones, keyboards, speaker, etc…?

Do I even have to say it?

There is a small company in Boston (tsparcs2@gmail.com) that makes an external iPhone keyboard that works just fine. I’ve been using it for the last 2 months to type away without lugging my laptop to write emails and pre-edit my term papers alough I finish the formatting on my laptop at home. It’s a wired connection to the iphone dock connector and it comes with a small App for text editing and emailing.

CHRIS: Your comment was a great find – but your link was to the corporate Verizon website! How about the name of the company? I hardly think Verizon is correct (- and if it was, I wouldn’t buy it.) Thanks!
