Wow, the iPhone Dev Team has really been cranking out the jailbreak developments over the past couple days. It was just yesterday morning that the Team made some preliminary breakthroughs in accessing the iPhone v1.1.1’s file-system. Then, last night, the iPhone v1.1.1 jailbreak process got another bump-up with third-party applications ported and working – although the SpringBoard homescreen application launcher was limited to 15 application icons.
That brings us to this morning. The iPhone Dev Team is now another step closer to a publicly available jailbreak solution – Nicholas “Drudge” Penree, NerveGas and Pumpkin were able to patch SpringBoard to support as many third-party applications as you want. In doing so, the SpringBoard on iPhone v1.1.1 now displays multiple pages.
Take a look at the pictures of the patched iPhone SpringBoard. Notice those nifty little “paging dots” at the bottom of the homescreen, a la Safari’s tabbed browsing screen. Pretty cool eh?
So, now all we gotta do is wait on the iPhone Dev Team to release a general jailbreak solution with third-party apps and the cool multi-page SpringBoard feature. We’re behind these guys all the way. Bring on the iPhone v1.1.1 jailbreak!
