The FCC previously speculated that the auction could generate something like $12 billion, but current analysis has put that projection in doubt.
Regardless of market-troubles, FCC Chairman Kevin Martin has announced that the 700Mhz frequency spectrum auction is bound by law to continue. We’ll be seeing the auction commence on January 24, 2008.
