Padded lamp postsRemember our story about padded lamp posts in East London. Well it was just a temporary thing (lasted for a day and a half) and a PR stunt, designed to “test out and gauge people’s opinions.” So why we covered it? It seemed so real. I mean it’s not unusual to see people walking around texting and hitting lamp posts or even other people. I’ve seen that happening. :)

A spokesman for 118118 said it was important they’ve raised a lot of debate around it and that was what they were trying to achieve.

Anyway, the 118188′s PR firm certainly earned their service fee as a number of both online and offline media had covered the “news.” On the other hand, we’ll be more cautions when publishing any future news that’s related to the phone directory company.
