After eight-month long selection process, Nokia has recently announced winners of the annual “Mobile Rules!” competition at a ceremony in the heart of Silicon Valley at San Jose City Hall. The idea is of course to “recognize initiatives from emerging application and technology developers and business startups worldwide.” I could go on and on, but you do want to know who won, don’t you? Without further ado, here are the winners:

  • Best Business Plan: MedApps – MedApps Mobile Wireless Health Monitoring System
  • Best Mobile Application – Multimedia: MyStrands – MyStrands Social Player
  • Best Mobile Application – Multiplayer/Connected Games: GAMICA – Sumo-Sumo
  • Best Mobile Application – Infotainment: Earthcomber LLC – Earthcomber
  • Best Mobile Application – Enterprise: UpCode Ltd/UPC Consulting Ltd – UpCode parking
  • Best Technology Innovation – Future Device Architecture: GENUSION, Inc. – B4-Flash Memory
  • Best Technology Innovation – Future Touch and Feel: Kareline Oy Ltd – Kareline Natural Composites
  • Best Technology Innovation – Mobile Multimedia: kannuu Inc. – kannuu
  • Best Technology Innovation – User Interface: Tiki’labs – Tiki 6 keys

Grand Prizes in the Mobile Rules! ’08 Award include the right to negotiate solution development and product creation with Nokia and other competition sponsors and participation in an Innovation Expo to be held at Nokia headquarters in Espoo, Finland. In addition, winners also receive the right to use the title “Mobile Ruler ’08″ in all promotional materials.
