BlackBerry

Research In Motion may not have that many news to report at this year’s CTIA, but they are pushing hard to further strengthen their presence in the U.S. mobile phone market. Let’s sum up all the BlackBerry news, shall we:

  • First we saw Verizon introducing the GPS-enabled BlackBerry Curve 8330. We’ve already covered this and here’s the link to the official press release.
  • Then Sprint followed the suit by announcing the same device. The Curve 8330 on Sprint will work with such services like Sprint Music Store, Sprint TV and Sprint Navigation. The carrier will start selling the new BlackBerry later this month for $179.99 with a two-year service agreement, a $170 instant savings credit and $100 mail-in-rebate. (release)
  • T-Mobile announced the WiFi-enabled BlackBerry Pearl 8120 that will work with the carrier’s HotSpot@Home service. The Deutsche Telekom owned mobile operator will start selling the device starting from April 14 at the still undisclosed price. (release)
  • In the meantime, Boy Genius informed us the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 with built-in GPS will be hitting AT&T in the next month or two.
  • Finally, RIM said that downloads of their Facebook for BlackBerry application topped 1,000,000! (release)

There you have it folks. Just like Chuck Norris – RIM doesn’t sleep, they wait! 😉
