The popular moviegoer destination Fandango along with Microsoft-owned Tellme announced the addition of voice-activated movie information for mobile phones. Consumers will be able to simply hold down the “talk” button, say a movie title or local theater name, and see showtimes, purchase tickets and get driving directions to the theater — all from the comfort of their mobile phones.
Initially, the new Fandango service is available for GPS-equipped BlackBerry smartphones, but the company also plans to expand on future versions of Helio Mysto phones, and we guess other platforms.
And while we wait to see that expansion to other platforms (no dates were given), you may also be interested to know that Fandango is working to bring the same service to GPS-enabled cars this year. Not exactly a mobile related news, but interesting nevertheless.
Full release is available on PRNewswire.
