Pope Benedict XVI to use SMS text message to communicate to youthIn a sign of the times that we live in, Pope Benedict XVI will reportedly be sending out thousands of SMS text messages to the youth that will be attending the 6-day World Youth Day (WYD) event that kicks off on July 15 in Sydney, Australia.

The text messages will be used to send inspirational messages to the youngsters attending the WYD event. Telstra will be providing the infrastructure for the Catholic Church’s tech-embracing push to reach the religious masses.

“We wanted to make WYD08 a unique experience by using new ways to connect with today’s tech-savvy youth,” says Bishop Anthony Fisher.
