FCC approves BlackBerry Bold

As far as RIM is concerned, there are no more legal hurdles standing on their way for the BlackBerry Bold launch. Yes, this means the long awaited BlackBerry has been approved by the FCC. The variant that’s on their pages shows UMTS working on 850/1900 MHz and those are just the right frequencies for AT&T, which will be the first carrier to launch the device in the States.

However, we’re still not aware of the official release date. With iDay scheduled for tomorrow, RIM will have to hurry up and bring their baby out as soon as they can, so that Apple doesn’t steal them all the customers — at least those that find both the Bold and the iPhone 3G compelling choices. We’ll certainly watch this closely. Stay tuned…
