Rocketron

Not exactly the CTIA news, but this happened in the near past nonetheless. It’s a “launched at DEMOfall 08″ new mobile news service called Rocketron that lets listeners choose and hear the news on their mobile phones. With Rocketron, users navigate the news by voice command and skip the stories they don’t like, resulting in a “truly personalized experience.” No software is required to download and it works from any phone, simply by dialing (408) 907-2323.

Developed by Asyncast Corporation, the service has several built-in news categories — such as business, technology, sports and politics — which can be further customized by user-supplied keywords from Rocketron’s website or simply by talking to it on the phone.

On the other hand, Rocketron offers advertisers new opportunities for personalized ad placements. Companies can place up to 7 seconds long ads to make sure users don’t complain — at least not that much.

Rocketron gathers content from thousands of trusted news sources as well as in-depth specialty publications.

He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application.
