Cricket Wireless has added a new low-to-mid range device to its portfolio. Handsets from this category hardly impress anyone, especially when all the cool phones are being announced for the Christmas season, and the Samsung JetSet SCH-R550 is not an exception.

However, with the simple-looking Samsung clamshell Cricket may have an actual winner. The reason for my thinking is simple – it’s affordable and is ideal for those people who look for a basic phone functionality with MP3 player — i.e. majority.

Specs wise, the JetSet packs two screens (internal 2.1-inch QVGA and external 1-inch 96×96 pixels), EV-DO support, 2 megapixel camera that can take both photos and videos, music player with dedicated control keys, stereo Bluetooth support, 2.5mm audio jack, and a memory card slot. It is available for $199.99 from Cricket’s stores on online for 20 bucks less…
