Napster and AT&T announced that Napster Mobile now works on more than 25 AT&T handsets, including newly launched/announced BlackBerry Bold, AT&T Quickfire, Pantech Matrix and Samsung Propel. Apparently, the expansion was made possible by less restrictive DRM requirements from the labels and Napster’s adoption of more flexible technology. As a result, more than 13 million AT&T customers can browse and buy music from Napster’s 6 million song strong catalog.

Full-length songs from Napster Mobile cost $1.99 each, and the price includes a copy that is automatically delivered to the customer’s PC. Napster Mobile is also available for a $7.49 monthly subscription, which includes five song downloads per month. Charges for downloads are billed to customers’ AT&T wireless bill and standard data usage rates apply, hence an unlimited data plan is highly recommended.

Finally, to get more users to try out the service, AT&T is offering 5 free songs to customers who sent text message “NAPSTER” to 7299.
