Despite Lack of Levels, Black Mamba Racer Gets Two Thumbs Up!

Remember my post earlier in the day outlining the Black Mamba Lite game for the iPhone? Well, shortly after that post I went ahead and played the game again… and thought to myself, ‘you know, this is silly… the game is only $1.99, just go ahead and buy it and tell everyone about it at IntoMobile’. So that’s what I did.

I bought the game earlier this afternoon. As with all apps purchased from the App Store, the purchase and download to my iPhone was dead easy and only took 20 seconds or so… The download is a lightweight, coming in at a tiny 2.4 MB.

Overall I’m pleased with the game. Controls are easy, and I almost never miss a ‘button’ press like I do on some other games. Often times in Real Soccer 2009 I miss the virtual A or B button, or hit the wrong direction on the directional pad. A touch frustrating. But in Black Mamba, the buttons are big enough (and there’s only 3 of ‘em) so there are absolutely no control issues.

After only 30 minutes or so of gameplay I’ve already made it to the last level (the game comes with 25 levels). I haven’t passed it yet, but the level has me racing against the ‘Black Mamba’ herself on a very tough track that incorporates features from all tracks that I’ve already passed.

My only complaint with this game is the lack of levels… if I can get to the final level in 30 minutes, that’s probably not a good thing for most gamers. I’d like to see more levels added in a future update. Some other things I’d like to see? More AI cars to race against, perhaps some customizable add-ons for your car, more tracks to race on… and a track builder/customizer would be awesome too. Build and race on your own tracks, and share them on the web with the world! (Starbyte I hope you’ve read this!)

All-in-all though, for the price I really do have to recommend this game. You can get Black Mamba Racer for $1.99 at the App Store (iTunes link alert).

Note: Looks like Black Mamba 3D is coming soon from the folks at Starbyte… Stay tuned for that one!
