The round of beta and bug-testing for the latest Opera Mini mobile browser has wrapped up, and now the official release of version 4.2 is available for download. There are lots of improvements to this version, including skins, video support, new servers for faster page processing, and note syncing with your desktop browser.

Opera Link had previously been available to sync up bookmarks between mobile and PC, and while expanding it to a freeform notes section is pretty cool and a good move to bolster their other products, I don’t think Opera will see many people ditching Firefox or Chrome for Opera on their desktop. Even though Opera wasn’t exactly hurting in the speed department (they’ve got a solid reputation for fast load times), the new servers will likely make Asian and North American browsing miles quicker.

Want to get started? Go ahead and find your phone on the list of compatible devices, then download Opera Mini for free.
