Purchase and Activate Your iPhone 3G Online… Via AT&T!

In a new move that has kind of come out of the blue, AT&T has started accepting online orders for the iPhone 3G. On top of that, new customers will have the device shipped to their front door, PLUS activation may be completed from within the customer’s home. New units that get shipped will be tied to a user account before they ship. All the customer needs to do is activate the device through iTunes… and voila… a working iPhone 3G!

To help make the buying experience just a bit better, AT&T is also offering customers the option of speaking to a representative live through an online chat. Customers can go through model choices and plan specifics before settling on a purchase, and making the thing official.

Once the purchase is made, overnight shipping is being offered free with each order. If you’re looking to pick up a 3G in time for Christmas, AT&T has noted that you only have 8 days left to order it online and have it arrive on your doorstep in time.

The new options are available to new AT&T iPhone 3G customers, and existing ones as well, provided they want to add an additional line of service to their monthly plans.

To explore for yourself, head on over to AT&T >

Note: Kudos to AT&T on this smart move for the holiday season (and heck, for every season). I hope Apple is taking notes here.
