Nokia India released several free apps for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic owners. Let’s go through each one of them quickly:

  • SMS Timer is a neat utility that allows you to schedule SMS/MMS messages to be sent on a future date and time. With it, you can do such things as schedule anniversary messages, connect with friends who live in different time zones or regularly check your account balance by scheduling periodic information request messages and not worry about it.
  • Then comes Smart Guard, which protects all your private information — including messages, contacts, media files and more. The application works both on the phone’s internal memory and on the memory card.
  • Marble Maze – a labyrinth game that utilizes the orientation sensor built inside the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. There are 40 different labyrinths to solve, and 3 different types of balls: a metal ball, a rubber ball, and a super pingpong ball.
  • WaveSecure – helps you track the lost phone and ensures full security of the data on the device.
  • Card Memory – classic title with a “superb audio visual interface with engaging graphics and touch control.”
  • Touch Maneuver – the virtual version of the classic “Don’t touch the wire game,” which features multiple levels with increased difficulties.

There’s a catch, however. While SMS Timer and Smart Guard work on all 5800s – Marble Maze, Wave Secure, Touch Card Match and Touch Maneuver are regionally restricted to those with an Indian SIM card. Still, that’s 2 free apps for the rest of the world, while India (and we’ve heard Hong Kong, as well), gets more for free.

Would Marble Maze work on the S60v3 FP2 phones? Considering that the Sensor API of the S60v5 has been backported to FP2, the accelerometer should work on the S60v3 FP2 too!
