NetLingo: Word of the day: Hang

netlingo-logoI love NetLingo – you’ll have heard my espouse it’s many and varied benefits before, but today there was a word of the day that rang true for me:

hang  – When a modem fails to hang up or when a computer fails to respond, it is said to be hung.

Now, a seemingly trivial little one syllable word is the reason for my porting from a “Windows PC + Mobile device” setup, to an entirely Apple one – I was absolutely tired of the lack of reliability that the PC environment brings, and I think everyone has had that experience where either the PC freezes, the app hangs, or worse still, dishes up the BSOD (blue screen of death).

If you’re interested as to the porting process from PC to Apple Computer, with a strong focus on the mobile part, then check out the “Rocketship Apple” series of posts I wrote (type “rocketship” in the search bar and you’ll find them).

If you’re not so interested, hey that’s cool, go check out NetLingo – they have a fantastic array of words that you can inject in to your everyday tech conversations! 🙂
