Here’s a cool one. The UK girl group ‘The Mentalists‘ were recently caught on film playing a cover of ‘Kids’ by MGMT on only their iPhones and iPod Touches. Check out the video to see for yourself. I have to admit, when I first hit play I thought the song was going to be a little cheesy… But as you get into it and the girls start singing, it’s actually not bad at all!
The band makes use of Ocarina, DigiDrummer Lite, Retro Synth and MiniSynth. I’ve never seen anything like this before, so good on them for embracing these iPhone apps and making the most of them. I’m sure ‘The Mentalists’ have managed to generate a whole new flock of fans with this one… no doubt most of whom will be Apple fans. It’s all good… I have a feeling The Mentalists are pretty big Apple fans as well 🙂
