flood-it-iphoneLate last week I downloaded the puzzle game ‘Flood-It!’ from LabPixies just for fun… I noticed it was one of the top free downloads, so I figured it had to be not half bad. To my pleasant surprise, it was much more than I expected. Once you get the game concept down and learn how to play, this puzzler is tons o fun!

The object of Flood-It! is to ‘flood’ the screen with the same color of pixels. You do so by starting at the top left pixel. From there, you select one of the colored balls at the bottom of the screen, and your ‘flood’ area will grow to include that color (as long as the color is adjacent to your starting square). You keep selecting colors, your ‘flood’ area grows, and pretty soon almost the whole screen will be one color! The real tricky part is that you only have a certain number of steps to complete each level. Took me more than a few tries to complete my first puzzle, but once I did, I have to admit I started to get the hang of it, and my winning percentage went way up. There are lots of options built-in as well. You can choose 3 different board sizes, different color sets for the puzzle pieces and more.

Two thumbs up to the folks at LabPixies on this one. This is one of the better free apps I’ve played on my iPhone for some time now… I should note though, if you’re not into puzzle games, this one will probably not be for you.

For more information or to try it out for free, you can get Flood-It! right here in the App Store (iTunes Link).
