Alltel has yet another cheap texter to add to its handset armoury: the LG Tritan. This side-slider will run you about $79.99 on contract after rebates, and sports the usual fare (3 megapixel camera, 3″ touchscreen, GPS, EVDO-flavoured 3G, and a tragic 2.5mm headphone jack). The Tritan should provide a slightly sexier alternative to the Banter which came out in March, and remember, Alltel recently knocked their standard contract length down to a year, which is always a solid selling point.

Don’t forget accelerometer, excellent camera with auto focus (and editing functions on the camera itself, such as cropping, contrast, brightness, etc with ‘night mode’ that actually works). And the joystick when using the web is easy to use, and a benefit.

For this price on a phone, it’s actually pretty nice. I think it’s getting overlooked.

And yea, what’s up with the headphone jack? A little rubber stopper that you can lose really easy?!

Does the Alltel version of this phone come with the music player and accelerometer? I was looking at their website and it doesn’t list them as options but the US Cellular site lists the music player. Does LG maybe release different makes of the Tritan for different phone companies?

I think they must because we have this phone and the specs on LG say that audio/voice memos can be set as ringtones, yet I have not found a way to do this. Also, downloading ringtones from the internet is close to impossible. You can play them, but then I can’t find a way to save them. What gives??

I’m not sure what the complaints are about the headphone jack. Are there two different versions? Mine has a 3.5mm not 2.5mm. BTW, the Alltel version does have the music player and accelerometer.
