The Chinese Economic Daily News is sourcing a Merrill Lynch report given to investors saying that the Windows Mobile 6.5 powered HTC Mega, and the budget Android powered HTC Click (pictured above), will be launched toward the end of Q3 this year. Those two devices will be responsible for a 19% increase in shipments from HTC, compared to the previous quarter, and an increase in revenue of 11% if things go according to plan. Not all the news is fantastic however, HTC revenues and shipments for 2H09 are expected to fall more than 20% compared to 1H09. With the economic recession still impacting people’s lives, and HTC focusing on fairly high end devices, it isn’t a surprise to see their bottom line hurting. Microsoft is partially to blame for this since it took Windows Mobile 6.5 so long to get out the door, and the final result was a boring operating system with enough visual flair to tide people over until Windows Mobile 7 comes out some time in 2010.
