I’m Getting Tired of ‘Storm Chasing’. The Latest BlackBerry Storm 2 Rumors Are In.

Color me frustrated. The BlackBerry Storm 2, aka ‘Odin’ rumors and speculation seem to be reaching a crescendo, and unfortunately it looks like many of them could very well turn out to be wrong.

Back at the beginning of September I learned that the Storm 2 would hit Verizon stores on the 14th of October (today), with a launch on the 29th of September for business customers only. Oooooook, well, that time frame has come and gone, and I can’t recall hearing anything about business customers already toting around town with the next-gen Storm device… I’m not going to hold my breath on this one, let’s consider it busted.

Now, I’ve just received word that the Storm 2 could arrive October 21st on Verizon. And, at least this time we have a screenshot from a Verizon internal email to back it up. Sure, I know these things are awfully easy to photoshop, but take a gander at it at the top of this post. Pretty clear to see.

Finally, while doing a little more ‘Storm chasing’ this morning, I read that Verizon CEO Lowell C. McAdam has admitted to carrying the Storm 2 for the past few weeks. He’s been showing it off, giving demonstrations, and handing it off to folks interested in a little face time. The second coming of the Storm is apparently living up to and exceeding expectations… so we’ll see.

Whether the Storm 2 goes all official today, tomorrow, next week or next month is still up in the air… But I wanted to jot down all I know on the matter for now. Hope this makes things as clear as mud for you :P

I’m going to curl up into a ball and rock back and forth ever so gently. Someone tap me on the shoulder when this thing arrives.

Note: Almost forgot… Across the pond in Europe, the Storm 2 and Bold 9700 (Bold 2) are slated for a mid-October release as well. At least that’s the rumor.
