T-Mobile - Slovak TelekomSlovakia’s land-line operator Slovak Telekom and mobile operator T-Mobile Slovensko, which is a wholly owned of subsidiary of Slovak Telekom, announced plans to merge the two companies. As you’ve just figured out, Slovak Telekom is already the owner of a local T-Mobile, but the move would make the new company more efficient, allowing for sharing of resources.

Moreover, Slovak Telekom (and in that sense T-Mobile Slovensko) is 51% owned by Germany’s Deutsche Telekom, which initially suggested such a move. Slovak Telekom’s other shareholders include Slovak Economy Ministry (34%) and Slovakia’s National Property Fund (15%).

“The project of integration is of a long-term nature, it consists of many other partial projects, e.g. harmonisation of processes, interconnection of all information systems enabling a comprehensive view of the customer,” the companies said in a statement.
