Sholes3-540x405The Motorola Sholes tablet rumors have been coming hard and fast these past few days. We were first tipped off to a slate-based Sholes, which is believed to be a Motorola Droid variant, in a leaked product road-map. Then we were given our first glimpse of the keyboard-less Motorola Sholes tablet in leaked images that showed the upcoming Android phone sporting an HDMI output and 8-megapixel camera. Today, we’re blessed with yet another round of leaked pics from China. The Motorola Sholes XT701 that you see pictured here is allegedly headed to China Unicom’s network. This particular Sholes tablet variant sports a 5-megapixel camera and an interesting “bulge” along the right-side of the handset.

The leaked Motorola Sholes images from yesterday are likely fake – based on a Samsung Omnia II. We bring that up because these Sholes XT701 pics are from China (the land of fake handsets), so it would behoove you, dear reader, to take this rumor at face value. That being said, this Sholes XT701 is purported to feature a 5-megapixel camera, 3.7-inch touchscreen, headphone jack, FM radio and will run Android 2.1. There’s also a strange “bump” along the right side of the device, leading us to think the Sholes XT701 might be in its second trimester.

All kidding aside, it’s strange that a Sholes tablet variant would downgrade to a 5MP camera. The flash module also seems to have migrated towards the side of the device. We have no idea when to expect the Sholes Tablet, but if it’s running Android 2.1, we’re not expecting to see it before the end of the first quarter of 2010. T-Mobile USA is speculated to be in the running as a possible Sholes carrier.
