LG-IQ-Telus

The LG eXpo which had recently made its way to AT&T can now be found north of the border on telus as the LG IQ. I only got a bit of time to try it out when playing with the rest of telus’ HSPA lineup, but between the 1 Ghz processor, Windows Mobile 6.5, projector attachment, and very cool fingerprint sensor, this is a compelling option for the corporate world. In fact, after seeing a video demo of the sensor in action, it makes me wonder why BlackBerry’s new optical trackpad wasn’t designed with fingerprint use in mind. Possibly the best part of all is that the IQ is available for only $99.99 on contract, a solid hundred bucks cheaper than AT&T. If you’re looking to grab one, it’s sitting pretty in the telus online store.

In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer.
