PotD: Percentage of U.S. children, across various age ranges, who own mobile phones

While not really a picture of the day, more like a chart of day, here is what mobile phone ownership looks like for American children between the ages of 6 and 11 and how that figure has changed between 2005 and 2009. The sample size is 5,000.

Note how the largest jump in mobile phone ownership took place in the 10-11 year old age range, going up 80.5% in just 4 years. When did you get your first mobile phone? How old were you? I was in my last year of high school, or a junior, can’t really remember, and of course it was a Nokia. Back then everyone had a Nokia, and we all had custom shells, custom keypads, custom batteries that had bright LEDs which would go off in sequence on an incoming call.

Those were the days.
