I don’t care what anyone else says, if you play a lot of golf, and carry an iPhone, this app is a must have. Forget the ‘old fashioned’ hardcopy of the rules of golf, and download the very same rules (plus a lot more), courtesy of the USGA… in their new ‘The Rules of Golf’ app for iPhone!

Released back on January 14th, this new app features the official 2010-2011 ‘Rules of Golf’, ‘Decisions on The Rules of Golf’, and ‘Rules of Amateur Status’. In a nutshell it gives you quick an easy access to all of the official rules and decisions, making it the ideal reference guide when you run into trouble or disputes on the course.

There’s an awesome word and phrase search feature built-in, to help you find the answer to your rules query fast. For example, you could punch in ‘Can you stand out of bounds when making a stroke?’, and the app will find your answer right away. If no answer is provided, you can email the USGA directly for expert advice.

For more information check out The Rules of Golf in the App Store (iTunes link). To purchase, you’ll need to throw down $3.99.
