A Sprint technician has spotted in a list of upcoming handset software updates that some new features will be available for the Palm Pixi and Pre on February 15. Phonebook importing and exporting, video capture and editing, and calendar and messaging “enhancements” will all be a part of the new OS, presumed to be 1.4. The date is convenient, since that’s the first day of Mobile World Congress – can we expect some news from Palm out of Barcelona next week? Maaaaaaaybe. It seems unlikely that a new device would be announced, since the Pixi and Pre Plus just came out at CES, but it’s possible we’ll see some new GSM versions of the Pre and Pixi Plus for Europe make use of webOS 1.4.

In any case, video recording is a pretty big deal – good on webOS for finally getting it. Looking forward to seeing what exactly those calendar and messaging “enhancements” are, too.
