RealNetworks scored a deal with Sprint to make them a digital music storefront, which will combine all of the carrier’s existing music-related offerings — including ringtones, ringback tones and full-track music. The two companies will work together to provide the “same choice and convenience to customers that Sprint provides across all its mobile services, while increasing efficiencies for the operator.”
Real will rely on its end-to-end Media Entertainment Platform to manage, administer, market and deliver Sprint’s digital music content, to create a rich shopping experience for Sprint customers, while helping the carrier increase its ARPU.
The press release doesn’t say when we should expect to see the new Sprint music store being launched, but my guess is at some point in the second half of the year…
