With all this anticipation surrounding the eventual release of the Android 2.1 OS update to the myriad Android phones on market right now, it can be a a little frustrating trying to guess when, exactly, the latest Android build will roll through your town and bless your handset with all the good stuff baked into Android 2.1. Well, there’s good news if you’ve got an update eligible Motorola Android phone. Motorola has posted details on their Android 2.1 OS update schedule, essentially breaking down their calendar for pushing out the updated Android OS to phones like the Motorola Droid and CLIQ.

Mark from Motorola has announced the company’s expected Android update timeframe. If you happen to own a Droid, Milestone, DEXT, or CLIQ, you’ll probably find the above chart reassuring. Especially if you feel burned by Motorola’s Android 2.1 OS update tease.

I see one big, wait – huge, no wait – enormous, Android version compatibility issue in the making here. I can only hope those brainiacs at Google have a plan to tame this monster.

By the way – ‘soon’ is not a schedule nor a date – it avoids both.

  • Egochek

Using the phrase “when it’s done” in reference to a release is not a good idea.

  • Preston

I’m with Bruce. “Soon” means nothing. It is relative to the user’s idea of “Later”.

I’ll just take that “soon” to mean “Who the hell knows?”.

  • Jim Cosenza

With all the delay it has me concerned…. Alright already!!

  • bob

i have had a droid for four months. it is worthless. a smart phone that is really dumb.

  • zane

    @bob
Idk what phone you’ve been using, but my droid is an awesome phone! This thing trumps the iphone. Sure it might take a little bit more tech knowledge, but the positive differences are noticable. Maybe you just don’t use the droid to its potential.

  • snoopy

Im with you zane. The motorola droid is a great phone. Bob maybe
its the operator that is worthless, or dumb. Any way Im tired of
hearing 2.1 is comming out soon. But better late then bugged.

  • incognito

Zane Snoopy, i love my droid but i will tell you my iphone never force closed on me….that shit is frustrating.

  • Max147

I don’t like Motorola Milestone it’s just because eats too much battery even on 2.0.1os i am really frustrated i mean this phone is awesome but the problem is battery power is tooooo frustrating. And on 2.0.1 os the browser is so choppy and laggy i don’t understand what’s wrong.

Does anyone have any idea of what Q2 2010 is suppose to be? I mean how is that a targeted date?? What the heck is Q2???

I have the motorola cliq and have had it since it came out and people who own droids and other new android devices are complaining I bought my phone and it came with android os 1.5 3 weeks later droid comes out the nexus and devour milestone and etc. If anyone has a right to complain its cliq owners I mean c,mon android 1.5 and months later still 1.5 we deserve the update od android os and the devour I believe has motoblur and the new moto backflip has 1.6 has motoblur so we deserve it. And until we get it motorola sucks they don’t know how many angry consumers there are were the ones that make there funding happen so they should atleast make us happy I would be happy with just 2.0 os at that even 1.6 but 1.5 that’s crap

  • james

It means “quarter 2″ or the secont quarter of the year,it means the update should come out sometime between april and june

  • antnyc
