Swype gets money from DOCOMO Capital as part of its series B funding

After getting some cash from Nokia and Samsung, Swype continues with its money raising activities. The company announced that it has raised $1 million in series B extension funding led by DOCOMO Capital, bringing the combined series B funding to $6.6 million.

Swype said it will use the new funding to expand its global footprint, broadening language support and launching the technology across multiple platforms and devices. Swype’s “text input for touchscreen devices” software currently supports 30 languages and is developing a Japanese version for release later this year. In other words, we should expected to see some DoCoMo phones rockin’ Swype’s software out-of-box probably just in time for the holiday season.

In addition to the new funding announcement, the company unveiled two new members of its board of directors: Rob Burgess, former CEO of Macromedia; and Ross Bott, CEO of SEVEN.

And if you remember, earlier we reported that T-Mobile will preload Swype keyboard on its touchscreen smartphones.
