You’ve read that correctly – Apple has hit the 10 billion song downloads!
If you’ve been using iTunes lately, you certainly noticed the countdown to 10 billion. The goal is reached, giving Apple another argument in its negotiations with the media industry (not that Steve actually needs an additional argument, though). Sure, there are other music download services popping up around the world, but none of them gets even close to being as successful as iTunes.
The new game in town is iPad and I’m sure Apple is using all its wonderful numbers — including the recently reached 3 billion apps downloaded figure — alongside Steve’s “built-in charm” to get publishers on the platform.
The next stop – 20 billion songs and 5 billion apps downloaded. My guess for the former is 2-2.5 years and for the latter – a year max. Care to guess? Comments form is all yours…
