The rumor is that LG will ship its first Windows Mobile 7 phone as early as September. Engadget Chinese got a sitdown with LG Mobile in Hong Kong at a Chinese New Year event. While there, they’ve learned that the company will launch the first WinMo 7 device at some point between September and November. We know it’s the fourth quarter when the first smartphones running the latest (and greatest) version of Microsoft’s mobile OS are set to hit the market, but in my book, September is still Q3.

On the other hand, we know LG is a committed partner of Microsoft, as expressed in a separate press release during the last year’s Mobile World Congress. Will they get an early access or they are just more eager to get in the game before other players? It’s hard to tell, but it’s good to know things are shaping up for Windows Mobile 7. Hopefully, we’ll soon hear something similar from HTC and other companies. Stay tuned…
