Good news for all the HTC Tattoo owners out there. Just because you have the least powerful Android smartphone, it doesn’t mean HTC has forgotten you. Unlike Samsung (referring to the i7500 model), HTC takes good care of its customers, hence you could expect to be blessed with an Android 2.1 update in due course. Here’s what they said:

“Kindly note that now we understand that a phone running Android OS 2.1 is available that you are excited to get an update for your Tattoo. We are still working hard to Sense for building this new version but we expect to have the upgrade finished and ready to go soon. Please understand that it takes time to customize any Android release to Ensure You Have The Sense provides intuitive experience, and we hope you can be patient for just a little while longer.”

The exact release date of the Android 2.1 update is unknown, as you can figure out from the statement above. As soon as we hear something on that front, you’ll be the first to know. Stay tuned…

HTC has promised a lot of things, but how many people have actually got their updates?

The Hero has had 2.1 promised for ages, so where is it?

It’s pretty obvious that HTC can get Sense working around 2.1, or else the Legend and Desire would not work.

Seems that I might have been right all along, and now HTC is saying that the Tattoo (and no doubt the Hero) won’t be getting 2.1.

HTC said at MWC that they’d be adding the new version of Sense to the Hero – so I wonder if that will happen.

bullshit, they are bloody liars,i will definitely switch to Nokia

In htc tattoo there will be a feature to send and receive file by bluetooth & when android 2.1 comes?

  • squeeky

I have an Orange Hero – it's now running 2.1 thanks to OTA upgrade.

Works great, but I'd almost given up on it happening too.

I don't think that they will make an update for Tattoo cuz its the weakest phone and they don't care about upgrading it…

You are right. I asked HTC on October 4th 2010, and this is what the told me by e-mail:

“Kindly be informed that currently there is no plan to upgrade your phone to Android 2.1. The result of our analysis showed that an upgrade to your phone may impact the user experience and we ultimately decided that an upgrade was not recommended.
Your phone will still receive support, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Shame on HTC! I paid almost 300 € when it came out, is this cheap?

I will never buy again an HTC device, and will not recomend it to anybody.
