MetroPCS will be launching its own music store called MetroMusic Store in the second half of the year. RealNetworks’ Media Entertainment Platform will be used to power the fully branded store, making it easy for subscribers to find, play and manage their digital content.
That’s the main news. The rest of the press release talks about RealNetworks’ offering, which we learn, is currently deployed with 86 different carriers in 48 countries worldwide, making it available to more than 900 million subscribers. It offers an array of content, including music, video, ringback tones and personalization and messaging services.
With MetroPCS on board, Real’s VP of technology products and solutions, Vern Poyner, said: “We are proud to add MetroPCS to the long list of global operators who build their mobile offerings on RealNetworks’ technology and service. We look forward to working closely with MetroPCS to expand their digital entertainment capabilities now and as their network and services continue to evolve with the launch of LTE.”
