Sometimes it sucks to pay for Internet connectivity. The hotel I was staying at for CTIA wanted $13.99 a night for one ethernet port and that wasn’t going to happen. Fortunately, Boingo’s newest app will enable you to buy credits for the more-than 125,000 Boingo hotspots around the world.

Aptly called Boingo WiFi Credits, it enables you to put as little as $1.99 on your account and there’s a mapping feature to find the nearest hotspot around you. That two bucks gets you 60 consecutive minutes of hotspot access and it will also work on an iPhone and iPod Touch.

“Boingo’s new WiFi credits are an easy, affordable way for millions of users to buy WiFi access through an existing iTunes account,” said Dave Hagan, CEO of Boingo, in a prepared statement. “For Apple device owners who find themselves needing WiFi access only occasionally, it’s a great way to put some credits in the bank, so you can draw them down when you need them most.”

The company’s also running a content to give away an iPad to the 1000th person to download the app, so go ahead and give it a whirl, you may get lucky.
