Seeing as how the iPad’s display is almost three times larger than the one on the iPhone, we wondered how well the tablet would work in direct sunlight. The harsh direct light tends to wash out many eletro-gizmos’ displays, so we decided to put the Apple iPad to the test in our own direct sunlight demo video. The video here is quick and dirty, so we’re going to keep this post brief. What you see is the iPad display looking fairly bright, even in full daylight. Despite the high-def camera we used to shoot this demo, we couldn’t quite reproduce the way the iPad display looks to the naked eye. Still, it should give you a good idea of what to expect when using this big-screened gadget outdoors.

The video below shows you what the iPad display looks like indoors, with display brightness set to about 60%.

Umm… how can you say you are in full direct sunlight when we can see the reflection of the trees you are standing under?

The sun only casts shadows in one direction. There are many places right next to a tree that receive direct sunlight.

The two of you need to get outside more…
