Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9700 OTA OS Updates

Hey Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9700 users… here’s some awesome news for you! As of this very moment, you can now update your Bold 9700 over-the-air (OTA). W00t! OS 5.0.0.351 is now available, and in another ‘bonus’ of sorts, any data gobbled up during the update will not be charged to your account. Excellent. Of course, if you’re at home you can run the update over WiFi, or do the standard BlackBerry Desktop Manager (BDM) update… it’s really your call.

One thing to keep in mind however, make sure you don’t need to use your BlackBerry before you run the update, as it will take some time. The OTA process is rumored to take between 45 minutes to 2 hours. Running the update overnight is a sound plan. Plugging-in your 9700 to a power source is a good idea too.

To get started, follow these instructions:

  1. Hit ‘Menu > Options > Advanced Options > Wireless Update’
  2. Click ‘Next’
  3. Update to ‘5.0.0.351’
  4. Click ‘Next’
  5. Click ‘Save’
  6. Hit ‘Start Download’

That’s it. Be sure to let us know if you run into any issues with the OTA OS update process…
