T-Mobile may get a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S

In my review of the Motorola Cliq XT, I said T-Mobile fans should wait for a better Android handset to hit T-Mobile. Well, it looks like you won’t have to wait long because the Bluetooth Special Interest Group just approved the Samsung T959, which is similar to the neato Galaxy S.

The Bluetooth SIG said the handset will rock a 4-inch AMOLED screen, be fully touch, have Android and TouchWiz 3.0. The weird part is that the description also says, “It supports EDGE/GSM Tri-Band (850 /900/1800),” and this doesn’t make a lick of sense because it means you wouldn’t be able to use the handset on T-Mobile’s rapidly-growing 3G network. Let’s just hope that’s an error in the profile.

We had a chance to fondle the Galaxy S at CTIA and it’s a cool smartphone. The screen is downright brilliant – super crisp, vibrant colors, and it just blows away the competition. Samsung was quiet about what carrier it would go to, but it looks like it will eventually land on AT&T and T-Mobile. Cool beans. Check out the video below for a little run-through.
